The prop of the ring is a useful marketing tool for married and both reserved people. This would attract a set of audiences because Daisy’s secretive relationship is revealed in front of the audience. The women protagonist is also a marketing tool in attracting a set of different audiences. This is different to most mainstream features, which have men as a hero. Also Daisy fiancé is the antagonist meaning the women The newspapers relates to intellectual people who are interested in the daily news and doing some research. The clock shows the time and reflects Daisy as in succession against the time to do her research. The computer shows the importance of using social media in order to do the research she needs to find the criminals. The props we used are important in attracting the different ages because they are all relevant to different ages and can raise the ages who are attracted to our film. USP Our product represents that the women are much stronger than the men in the world of media. Women are given a strong status in our film more than on the media stage. The secret with Daisy’s fiancé is revealed and this approves the media as a social interactive way to communicate. The relationship between Daisy and her fiancé is a unique selling point to their audience. This is because the twist shows the important of secrets in our day to days life. SELLING POINT
Viral marketing is an important marketing tool and we are attracted by different adverts every time. Due Retribution interactive through social media would increase both the audiences married and singles. The social media sites we will be advertising our products will be through Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace. The pop up on the social media websites advertisements will be crucial in getting our film noticed the up coming independent film. The time of the release is important in selling the product quick and effectively. Due Retribution would be realized just before Valentines therefore, couples are able to enjoy the thriller. This will be shown during the half term so the audience of different ages can go cinemas. The traditional non-interactive way would be through posters on bus stops and cinema walls. This is another way in urging the audience in watching the feature. The poster of Daisy’s masculine body will be crucial in attracting the audience. The facial expression shows her concentration as she is aware of the upcoming events. This shows our protagonist has gone through transformation in order to fight the antagonist. The poster doesn’t reveal the antagonist leaving the audience with more mystery. ADVETISING
Daisy facial expression is more focused on her research. The back ground is foreshadowed by the criminals and their finger prints showing Daisy’s mind set. We are also shown different shots from her point of view and this is our selling point to involve the audience in helping Daisy to find the criminal. The close up of Daisy’s face in the poster shows the intimacy in the whole film as we are closer to a character than ever. The light is reflecting Daisy showing the centralized character to concentrate than the mis-en-scene. The Descent poster shows Sarah climbing up other women's dead body's to find her freedom. She is shown above the rest meaning she has risen and got help form the others to get where she is. This is similar to our poster because Daisy has to overcome the research, criminals and her psychological state in order to find freedom. DUE RETRIBUTION POSTER
DAISY AND SARAH Daisy is more intellectual and her jobs shows she is a hard working young women looking to start her own family. She is aware of her surroundings and strictly considers her loved ones and puts them first before anything. Sarah is an aggressive character, aware of her surroundings. Sarah is physiologically damaged after her husband and son died in a car accident. She is a fighter physically and mentally.
Shauna Macdonald in the ‘Descent’ (Neil Marshall, 2005) As the producers of Due Retribution, we consider Sarah as a comparable protagonist to our main protagonist Daisy. Shauna Macdonald plays Sarah in the film as the main protagonist. Sarah transformation in the Decent inspired our opening title sequence and challenges our group to create a dominant woman with a masculine figure. The Descent and Due Retribution are very similar because the main protagonist is suffering psychologically and has to do some research. This is because both women are physiologically damaged by their past and seeking vengeance. The film follows the main characters journey in finding the antagonist in order not to be psychologically damaged. Also both women go through transformation and gain power because of the research they have done. INSPIRATION
We will be attending film exhibitions to advertise our film in various ways. The Earls’ court exhibition centre in London will be one of the locations where we will be promoting our film. The exhibition will involve the cast and the crew answering questions on how the film ideas came through and the planning stage. The interviews from directors and producers and the whole cast will attend and they will be able give general information and answers about the films idea and what the film entails. As producers of Due Retribution we will be attending to TV interviews in order to raise our audiences. BBC radio one show to the audience that want to hear about upcoming films. The BBC, ITV and Sky news would be our main priority in order to promote our film. TV interviews would be the cause of the audience showing interest they want to watch the film. The film is an independent film it will be shown through festivals such as the Cannes festival and the BFI festival. The Duke of York art house in Brighton would be were the film will be were the film will be screening. This is because of the budget we used on the film, which will not allow us to access our film in the Odeon and Cine World. We would also want our film to be tipped for the Oscars for the independent film of the year. This will make our audiences increase in the marketing ploy. PROMOTING
We received positive feedback from the class because of the questions form. A student thought the opening title sequence brings out the suspense in the opening title sequence, which leaves a lot of enigmas for the audiences. The mise-ens-scene and lighting is impressive in giving the thrilling feeling. We were impressed after using the light coming from the computer giving a thrilling view. The technical abilities which we used were more close ups and medium close up to give the intimacy closeness with the main protagonist. The use of the cinematography means the audience is showing sympathy for Daisy as she goes on her quest. The audience enjoyed the soundtracks because it builds the suspense well in the narrative. The advice for improvement was to film the whole footage at home because the tables were showing in the opening title sequence. As a group we believe filming at home could of improved our mise-en scene and the narrative structure of the opening title sequence. Also the criticism about the light in some areas and dark in some areas which shows continuity errors. This can be improved by filming with the same light tone through the whole footage. The feedback about audio and the repetitive dialogue which was hard to understand shows we need to work on our technical ability of improving the sound effects and the sound track. FEEDBACK
