Science-Practice interfaces for Socio- Economy Jolanta Perek-Białas Institute of Sociology Jagiellonian University

Key issues 1. Are there real interfaces? 2. What to do?

Science – Practice INTERFACES… a : the place at which independent and often unrelated systems meet and act on or communicate with each other b : the means by which interaction or communication is achieved at an interfaceinteraction Britannica Encyklopedia

What to do? Sharing responsibilities means also: to disseminate knowledge about research results, to identify barriers for implementation of recommendations based on research findings at different levels, to define knowledge gaps, and to promote the idea of sharing responsibilities

Ten strategic employment priorities 1. Active and preventive measures for the unemployed and the inactive; 2. Creating jobs and fostering entrepreneurship; 3. Addressing change and promoting adaptability in work; 4. Investing in human capital and strategies for lifelong learning; 5. Increasing labour supply and promoting active ageing; 6. Ensuring gender equality; 7. Promoting the integration of and combating discrimination against people at a disadvantage on the labour market; 8. Making work more financially attractive through incentives; 9. Transforming undeclared work into regular employment; 10. Tackling regional employment disparities. Joint Assessment Papers, EC, 2003
