GENERAL ISSUES ON GOVERNANCE 1.Faculty handbook: Covers a wide area of topics and is updated annually. Covers many faculty issues including promotion and employment. This may be accessed on the Babson Portal under “academic affairs links.” 2.Policies & Procedures: Appendix A of the faculty handbook is titled “Policies and Procedures of the Board of Trustees Governing the Appointment, Tenure, Salary and Rank of Full-Time Faculty and the Appointment of Part-Time Faculty.” Approved by the Board of Trustees, this is a compilation of the rules relating to faculty appointments, dismissals, tenure, academic rank and titles, salary scales, academic freedom and related matters. 3.Faculty Senate Bylaws: These describe the purposes of the faculty Senate, articulate the rules regarding organization, membership, elections, meetings, responsibilities and powers of senators, and of the Senate Executive Committee; and describe the relationship of the Senate to the Faculty. This may also be accessed on the Babson Portal under “academic affairs links.”
