What are the Benefits? o Building navigation will be easier o Edits are made in a browser o More flexible page layout o Changes can be reviewed and approved o Makes quality control easier o Web Comm can help from a central place

Current Process Local HTML Files UNC Web Server These are flat files sitting in a web author’s folder with text and HTML content all in one document.

How Does It Work? Public Web Server CMS ServerWeb Author Content is stored in a database, the template structure is stored separately, CMS server combines them.

What Happens in the CMS Server World? Content Structure Web Page

So What? o Styles and UNC header can be changed without affecting content o Content can be single sourced (like a Dreamweaver library item) o Content can be shared o Content can be scheduled o Content can be searched

New Look New web templates – Modern design – Responsive for mobile – Consistent brand – Flexible content options – Will be available in CMS – Top level navigation

What Will Conversion Be Like? Goal is to move all sites to CMS system Recruitment pages will be first priority for assistance Web authors can move sites over to CMS and new look Old site will be archived for one year Will be training through CETL and Web Comm

When Will This Happen? What we know now – Omni is beginning to code our templates – Omni anticipates about three months for template coding and testing – Training will then happen for web team – Training will be scheduled for web authors – New permission forms will be submitted – Possibility of phased approach
