Liturgical Year Advent- Nov. 30 th (or closest to it)to Dec. 24 th – The beginning of our church’s new year – We celebrate & prepare that Jesus is coming – Represents God’s eternity

Liturgical Year Christmas-Dec. 24 th to The Epiphany or until the Sunday after Jan. 6 th – Celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ Feast of the Nativity – Celebrate Jesus’ birth w/out Original Sin – White or Gold are the colors represented – Epiphany= Christian feast day that celebrates the revelation of God the Son as a human being in Jesus Christ Revelations of Christ to man

Liturgical Year Ordinary Time- After the Epiphany to Ash Wednesday – Falls outside of the Major seasons – We live neither feasting or in severe penance – Part of the year in which Christ walks among us & transforms our lives

Liturgical Year Lent-Ash Wednesday & it last 40 days – Some include Good Friday & Holy Saturday – 2016=Starts February 10 th – Renewing baptismal commitments we have made – Repentant season of prayer, fasting/abstinence, & almsgiving

Liturgical Year Triduum-Good Friday, Holy Saturday, & Easter Sunday – Three-day period of prayer – Recall the three days that Christ spent in the tomb – Final three days of Lent & Holy Week – Also known as the Paschal Triduum – Starts w/Mass of the Lord’s Supper on the evening of Holy Thursday-to until Easter Vigil starts on Holy Saturday evening

Liturgical Year Easter- The ascension of Jesus into Heaven – End of 40 days of almsgiving, fasting, & prayer – Greatest feast in Christian/Catholic calendar – Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead – New life began-“Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.” – First Communion is done w/in the Easter season- Shows our faith – Ends w/Pentecost-Coming of the Holy Spirit on Jesus' followers Church’s birthday
