The Italian Culture By: Lizzie Bennett

My race is… Caucasian

My Family’s Ethnicity is… Italian!!!!!!!!!!!! My family came from Sicily and Naples. The pink Island on the Bottom is Sicily and Naples is by Campania The orange area north of Sicily!

LanguageLanguage In my house we speak English. My mom and grandma will speak a little bit of Italian. But we aren’t fluent with the language.

HolidaysHolidays

Christmas On Christmas eve my Grandparents sleep in the guestroom up-stairs. On Christmas morning we swap gifts and eat candy. Thanksgiving On Thanksgiving we either fly or drive up to New Jersey and spend the Holiday with my mom’s side of the family at my Aunt Deb’s house.

Easter On Easter my Aunt, Uncle, and 2 cousins come down and we all celebrate together by searching for Easter eggs and at 2 o’clock we eat! My mom makes her awesome Penne Vodka! It is Penne pasta with a YUMMY Vodka sauce on top! It is always a favorite! 4 th of July On 4 th of July it is also my parents anniversary. My dad goes out and gets my sisters and I poppers and sparklers! We also watch my neighbors do fireworks!

Mother’s/Father’s Day Mother’s Day We give my mom gifts and eat breakfast! Father’s Day Same as mother’s day!

New Years Eve On New Years Eve we have a big party and invite all our friends. At midnight the kids get sparkling apple cider and the adults have real Champagne!

Birthdays On birthdays the birthday person gets to choose what we do that day. Then after that’s accomplished, we have whatever dinner they want! Then of course we do cake and candles. After that we open presents. It is always fun.

Religion My religion is Catholic

Traditions We go to New Jersey for the Thanksgiving holiday Before we leave The Magic Kingdom we get popcorn We always eat dinner together On Tuesdays my mom makes tacos for taco Tuesday My grandmother in New Jersey makes baked ziti for us every time we come up

Music and Dance Italians dance the Tarantella Opera (My Uncle is a famous opera pianist! And my Aunt sings Opera!)

Facts About Italy Italy is known for its food. This is why you always see Italian restaurants on the side of the road! Fashion is a big thing in Italy. Many famous fashion designers come from Italy (ex. Armani, Gucci, Prada, and Versace). Everyday working Italians take a riposo anytime between 12-4 and everything gets closed down. During this time Italians have their major meal of the day. And their architecture is AMAZING!!!!! The Coliseum in Rome has been standing since 80 A.D. it is 1930 years old! The Leaning Tower of Pisa -> has been standing since Its 638 years old!!!!

Famous people from Italy Italy is home to some very famous people. For example: Leonardo Da Vinci The famous artist, he painted The Mona Lisa and The Last Supper

Galileo Galilei the founder of modern experimental science Enrico Fermi father of the atomic bomb

Frank Sinatra the famous singer was an Italian-American. I could go on and on… Basically, there are a lot of famous artists, scientists and singers!
