What must be turned in to attend the trip? The first deposit letter stating what letter option you are (A, B or C). First and second deposit (due March 15 th ) for each person riding on the bus. A total of $44.00 to ride on the bus. Chaperones must be cleared by the county to volunteer through the county volunteer process to attend the trip. *remember you cannot be a chaperone if you have siblings with you. Chaperones with a child getting in free must have completed online form from herosalute.com to receive free admission. Students going without parents that are getting in free MUST HAVE military ID and copy of form to teacher prior to the trip. Money for tickets is due by April 27 th. Chaperones driving behind the bus are still responsible for a group of students while at Busch Gardens. A signed Medical Wavier for each student and chaperone (available to fill out tonight)

What to bring on the trip? Your child is responsible for carrying their own money and keeping up with what they bring on the bus and into the park-please limit Snacks/Breakfast/Drinks for on the bus CELL PHONES for chaperones is a MUST! Pillow and blanket Wear comfortable walking shoes Change of Clothes (water rides) Money for Lunch and Dinner at the Park Military ID for students getting in for free without a parent (copy of form will be given to teacher prior) Chaperones may want a small bag or backpack for carrying chaperone information. Sunscreen Students may bring ipod, mp3 players, cameras, DSI, cell phones etc. Please make sure all content on these devices is age appropriate. Students are not allowed to use internet, text, or make causal phone calls DVD’s for viewing on the bus (must be rated G) We cannot take responsibility for these items, your child will be responsible for the items they bring with them.

Student Safety All AWE students are asked to wear the color BLUE (preferable the school shirt) to be easily recognized in the large crowds. Students are REQUIRED to stay with chaperone at ALL times. Students will be given a AWE nametag lanyard with school name, chaperone name, and chaperone contact number Students will be given the Busch Gardens map prior to the trip to make them familiar with park and to locate “lost child” spots in the park. They will be told to report to these locations if for some reason they are separated from their group. We have a certified first responder that will be attending the trip with us.

Chaperone Responsibilities Chaperones will be responsible for a small group of children, 2-3 per group Each chaperone will need to “Buddy” with another chaperone in case a chaperone needs to step away from the group. Chaperones are to “check-in” with homeroom teacher at appointed times. Call or text homeroom teacher at 1:00 and again at 4:00. Please indicate what “country” you are located in and what ride you are close to if possible Be responsible for getting your group to the entrance of the park at 7:30 to board buses. The park closes at 8:00 Chaperones will be given a folder with important student information. Must have at all times. Each group will be responsible to answer one sheet of questions following the morning Physics demonstration. The sheet will be located in chaperone folder, each student will not have their own copy.

Chaperone Folders Folders will include each child’s name and information sheet on each child that you are responsible for. Cell phone numbers for teachers, assistant principal, and Mrs. Sirmans (certified first responder). Map of Busch Gardens Sheet of questions following the funky physic show that students will be responsible for answering. Only one sheet per group with 9 questions. Students not riding the “extreme coasters” may need to get their information from the coaster riders.

Check-in Times Chaperones are responsible for “checking-in” with your child’s teacher at designated times throughout the day. This may be through a text or phone call. We will give you the Check in times in your folder. The teacher will check you off when she receives contact from you. If she does not receive contact, she will try to contact you ASAP or by asking a Busch Gardens representatives to locate you.

Departure time, meeting spot, and teacher check in We will be leaving AWE at 6:00 am on Friday morning. We ask that you are here at 5:30 am for check in, they will gather according to class on front benches where they will wait for further instructions. They must come directly to the benches and remain there until boarding buses. ***This can be a very hectic time and we need students in one location*** Once students check in with their teacher we will then begin loading the buses. Students will check in with teacher to receive nametags. Students will know prior to the trip what group they are in and where they sit on bus A bus chart will be on the side of each bus with students and chaperones seating arrangements. Students attending the trip by themselves and receiving free admission must have military ID and a copy of the form prior to loading the bus.

Arrival At Busch Gardens It will take Approximately 3 to 4 hours to arrive at Busch Gardens. We will be making one stop to and from Busch Gardens at the Virginia State line Welcome Center. All Students and Chaperones needing tickets will have to wait together for Mrs. Baylis to receive the group tickets to enter the park. Please wait together. Students and chaperones getting free admission will need to have their printed form and military ID to present at the admission gate. Once inside the park we will proceed to the Funky Physics show location. This is located at the Globe Theater in the country of England. The show will begin at approximately 11:00. This will last 45 minutes. If the shows starts later we will stay in England until the show time.

After the show (11:45-7:30) After the physics show we will be on our own. We would like to try to keep classes (Baylis, Pugh, Snead) somewhat together, but due to the park size we know it will be difficult. Chaperones must have their folders with them at all times, you may want to bring a small bag to carry the folders. Students are responsible for filling out information on the following rides; Apollo’s Chariot, Battering Ram, Da Vinci’s Cradle, Alpengeist, Griffon.

While touring the park… Students are able to choose as a group which rides they want to visit. They must stay together the entire time for rides, eating, bathroom breaks, etc. Students are responsible for eating lunch and dinner in the park on their own prior to boarding the bus to return home. We will try to pair chaperones that like to ride with students who ride and non riding chaperones with non riding students. We would prefer the students not ride alone

Departure We will be meeting to depart Busch Gardens at the front entrance at 7:30 Friday night. The park will close at 8:00. We will be meeting at the same entrance that we entered the park through in the country of England. Once everyone is accounted for we will load the bus to return to Havelock. We should arrive in Havelock approximately 11:30 pm. Students will contact parents 30 minutes prior to arriving at AWE parking lot to let them know the exact pick up time.

Traveling home… Students will be traveling back in the same seats and same bus, no moving allowed. Students leaving with a parent MUST have a letter in the office. The letter must state that they will be taking the child from the trip in the office PRIOR to us leaving. Teachers cannot accept letters that day. Students will call home approximately 30 minutes prior to arriving at AWE. Please note that NO STUDENTS ARE ALLOWED TO WALK OR BIKE HOME!

Arriving back to AWE We should arrive back to AWE at approximately 11:30 pm Students will sit together on the same benches they did in the morning when getting off the bus. Parents MUST check in with a teacher before picking up their child.
