Effective use of ICT PD Staff Session #1

Goals for today Ensure everyone can access « mymail » Attach files for ing Download attached files Add contacts to your address book Create groups for ing Create folders and organise messages Discuss expectations of use

mymail Your school account can be found at the internet address: – /mymail /mymail Is it your homepage or saved as a bookmark?

Attachments can be used to quickly send files of any kind – word documents, excel spreadsheets, powerpoint presentations, photographs, movie clips You can either simply view the file(s) that someone sends you or download and save them from the You can also upload files from your own computer to send to people – Let’s try it!

Contacts Do you use your address book to store your contacts? It saves you having to remember, locate and type in addresses. – Let’s try it!

Groups Instead of typing a list of addresses in, or adding each recipient individually, you can set up a group that includes people who you might regularly together and their addresses are all automatically included! eg. All members of your syndicate could be one group, all staff could be another, ASTOS another! – Let’s try it!

Folders It doesn’t take long before your inbox can become cluttered with messages that you need to retain. Sifting through months or years of messages to find the one you need can be very time consuming! You can create separate folders to store these messages in – forever! – Let’s try it!
