W HAT ARE WE DOING ? “Bridging year” – we make sure that students build up enough vocabulary and feel comfortable with the basics of the grammar in preparation for the first half of Spanish I in 7 th grade Meet 4 times a week Academic subject

T EXTBOOK /C HROME B OOK Using the 7 th grade book – we will take it easy – textbook website Grammar and vocabulary are posted on my webpage No workbook Your child will be taking notes on their journals until they begin using Chromebooks. If your child prefers, he/she can continue to use a notebook.

S CHOOL W EBSITE RESOURCES Vocabulary and grammar for each chapter WILL be posted on my page (not password protected) Additional resources include typing in Spanish, grammar basics, and link to an online dictionary DO NOT USE ONLINE TRANSLATORS unless you are able to teach the grammar to your child!

G RADING /H OMEWORK 35% tests 20% quizzes and 25%homework →1 day late receives only 75% credit →2 days late no credit given (0) →Completion grade: credit given 20% Participation

G RADING ( CONT ) Homework is assigned at least once a week – posted on website Study guides are always provided for tests (the study guide is the test!) I go easy on the materials and homework the first quarter Encourage your child to practice the language as much as possible

G RADING ( CON ’ T ) Conversation partners allow your child to practice the language structure with someone who is at about the same level. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE Encourage your child to review vocabulary and/or grammar on non- homework days

G RADING ( CON ’ T ) I am available for after-school help on Tuesdays until 4:00 P.M. If your child requires a different day, please let me know.
