The Industrial Revolution Children in factories

Children long ago Long ago children had to work just like grown ups. The factories needed lots of things made and so the miners sent copper and tin on trains and boats.

The rocks from the mine would be pulled along by children in carts. It was very hard work.

Children had to earn wages for their families. This little girl made and sold matches.

These children are working dangerous machines. The boy has no shoes on. Do you think they were safe?

Lots of boys and girls worked in this factory. Do you think it would be noisy or quiet?

What are the children doing in this picture? Do you think they will get into trouble?

Would you have wanted to be a child a long time ago? What wouldn’t you like?
