Chinese Ghost Festival. Dong-men Primary School, Taipei, Taiwan Danny Yang

The Chinese believes that the dead will become ghosts roaming between Heaven and earth.

In July on the Chinese calendar, we celebrate this festival because of the traditional Chinese ethic of “universal love”. Ghost Gate opened at July 1st. I n the special month,we worship the ghosts, until July 30th.

In Taiwan,we will kill pigs and goats in Ghost Festival.We offer wine and meat to ancestors and ghosts with a large table. Chinese Ghost activities are also held at this time around the island, crowned by the grand Keelung Ghost Day Ceremony.

We will use fruits to worship their ancestors and ghosts, some fruits can worship, but some fruits can’t. For example: 1.bananas2.tomatos 3.Pineapples4.Pears
