Children’s Message

“I Will Sing The Wondrous Story” I will sing the wondrous story Of the Christ Who died for me. How He left His home in glory For the cross of Calvary. Yes, I’ll sing the wondrous story Of the Christ Who died for me, Sing it with the saints in glory, Gathered by the crystal sea.

“I Will Sing The Wondrous Story” I was lost, but Jesus found me, Found the sheep that went astray, Threw His loving arms around me, Drew me back into His way. Yes, I’ll sing the wondrous story Of the Christ Who died for me, Sing it with the saints in glory, Gathered by the crystal sea.

“I Will Sing The Wondrous Story” I was bruised, but Jesus healed me, Faint was I from many a fall, Sight was gone, and fears possessed me, But He freed me from them all. Yes, I’ll sing the wondrous story Of the Christ Who died for me, Sing it with the saints in glory, Gathered by the crystal sea.

“I Will Sing The Wondrous Story” Days of darkness still come o’er me, Sorrow’s path I often tread, But the Savior still is with me; By His hand I’m safely led. Yes, I’ll sing the wondrous story Of the Christ Who died for me, Sing it with the saints in glory, Gathered by the crystal sea.

“I Will Sing The Wondrous Story” He will keep me till the river Rolls its waters at my feet; Then He’ll bear me safely over, Where the loved ones I shall meet. Yes, I’ll sing the wondrous story Of the Christ Who died for me, Sing it with the saints in glory, Gathered by the crystal sea.

1 He also said to the disciples: “There was a rich man who received an accusation that his manager was squandering his possessions. 2 So he called the manager in and asked, ‘What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your management, because you can no longer be [my] manager.’ 3 “Then the manager said to himself, ‘What should I do, since my master is taking the management away from me? I’m not strong enough to dig; I’m ashamed to beg.

4 I know what I’ll do so that when I’m removed from management, people will welcome me into their homes.’ 5 “So he summoned each one of his master’s debtors. ‘How much do you owe my master?’ he asked the first one. 6 “ ‘A hundred measures of oil,’ he said. “ ‘Take your invoice,’ he told him, ‘sit down quickly, and write 50.’ 7 “Next he asked another, ‘How much do you owe?’ “ ‘A hundred measures of wheat,’ he said. “ ‘Take your invoice,’ he told him, ‘and write 80.’

8 “The master praised the unrighteous manager because he had acted astutely. For the sons of this age are more astute than the sons of light [in dealing] with their own people. 9 And I tell you, make friends for yourselves by means of the unrighteous money so that when it fails, they may welcome you into eternal dwellings. 10 Whoever is faithful in very little is also faithful in much, and whoever is unrighteous in very little is also unrighteous in much.

11 So if you have not been faithful with the unrighteous money, who will trust you with what is genuine? 12 And if you have not been faithful with what belongs to someone else, who will give you what is your own? 13 No household slave can be the slave of two masters, since either he will hate one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You can’t be slaves to both God and money.” Luke 16:1-13 (HCSB)

“INVESTING THE ONLY LIFE YOU HAVE” Pastor Groover

There are four scenes in the story that Jesus tells here of the Astute Manager.

SCENE ONE: THE MASTER’S OFFICE

Jesus told this story to his disciples: “There was a certain rich man who had a manager handling his affairs. One day a report came that the manager was wasting his employer’s money. So the employer called him in and said, ‘What’s this I hear about you? Get your report in order, because you are going to be fired.’ Luke 16:1-2 (NLT)

SCENE TWO: THE MANAGER ON THE WAY TO GET THE ACCOUNTS

"The manager said to himself, 'What shall I do now? My master is taking away my job. I'm not strong enough to dig, and I'm ashamed to beg-- I know what I'll do so that, when I lose my job here, people will welcome me into their houses.‘ Luke 16:3-4 (NIV)

SCENE THREE: THE MANAGER WITH THE ACCOUNTS AND THOSE WHO OWE THE MASTER

Then one by one he called in the people who were in debt to his master. He asked the first one, "How much do you owe my master?" "A hundred barrels of olive oil," the man answered. So the manager said, "Take your bill and sit down and quickly write 'fifty'." The manager asked someone else who was in debt to his master, "How much do you owe?" "A thousand bushels of wheat," the man replied. The manager said, "Take your bill and write 'eight hundred'." Luke 16:5-7 (CEV)

SCENE FOUR: THE MASTER’S OFFICE AGAIN

As a result the master of this dishonest manager praised him for doing such a shrewd thing; because the people of this world are much more shrewd in handling their affairs than the people who belong to the light." Luke 16:8 (TEV) A good name is to be chosen over great wealth; favor is better than silver and gold. Proverbs 22:1 (HCSB)

“What are you going to do with your one and only life that will last for eternity?”-- Bill Hybels What are you going to do with the one asset you have? An astute guy uses what he has to gain a future for himself.

LESSONS FOR LIFE

You only have one life. Use it to enhance your future. Use it to build friendship with people who can say to you some day in heaven, “Thanks. I’m here because of you.”

Here’s the lesson: Use your worldly resources to benefit others and make friends. Then, when your earthly possessions are gone, they will welcome you to an eternal home. Luke 16:9 (NLT)

What do I want entrusted to me?

Whoever is faithful in very little is also faithful in much, and whoever is unrighteous in very little is also unrighteous in much. So if you have not been faithful with the unrighteous money, who will trust you with what is genuine? And if you have not been faithful with what belongs to someone else, who will give you what is your own? Luke 16:10-12 (HCSB)

I cannot invest my life in two places?

No household slave can be the slave of two masters, since either he will hate one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You can’t be slaves to both God and money.” Luke 16:13 (HCSB)

The Savior is waiting to enter your heart Why don’t you let Him come in? There’s nothing in this world to keep you apart What is your answer to Him? “The Savior Is Waiting”

Time after time He has waited before And now He is waiting again To see if you’re willing To open the door Oh, how He wants to come in. “The Savior Is Waiting”

If you’ll take one step Toward the Savior, my friend, You’ll find His arms open wide. Receive Him, and all of your darkness will end Within your heart He’ll abide. “The Savior Is Waiting”

Time after time He has waited before And now He is waiting again To see if you’re willing To open the door Oh, how He wants to come in. “The Savior Is Waiting”

Benediction
