◦ Average Percent Correct Goal  Students must average at least 85% percent on quizzes.  This indicates a student is reading with a high level of comprehension, which accelerates reading growth. ◦ Point Goals  Generated by the software  Indicate how much reading students are expected to do.  Individualized, fair, and realistic  Based on each student’s reading ability, the amount of time that is scheduled for daily reading practice, and the length of the marking period.  Arbookfind.com Arbookfind.com AR Goal Setting & Incentives 3

◦ Book Level Goal  Generated by the software.  Helps ensure students read at a level appropriate for them as individuals.  They are set at the low end of students’ ZPDs to encourage them to read freely throughout an appropriate range.  If students have not taken the STAR Reading test, they can use the chart in packet to determine ZPDs. 4

Each grade level should offer different rewards/incentives. This way, students will go through the AR program with something different to look forward to each year.
