Evolution: Change in population over time

LaMarck (French Biologist, 1809) Inheritance of Acquired characteristics: Characteristics an organism develops through use and disuse could be passed on to its offspring Theory of Use and Disuse: the more a part is used, the stronger and better developed it becomes; the less a part is used, the weaker and less developed it becomes.

LaMarck’s Way Giraffes had short Necks So they stretched their necks to reach food Their necks got longer (acquired characteristic) Their offspring were born with long necks (inheritance of acquired characteristic)
