2 Introduction FEC&HARQ DG work out the draft proposal for nominal modulation and coding set. But this MCS table is lack of system level simulation result support. Without simulation results, we can not say how it works. We would like to investigate the existing MCS candidate on system level simulation, which can tell us how new MCS table work. In other hand, 4-bit table or 5-bit table should also be evaluated, considering LTE has 29-element MCS table. We might not close the MCS table size discussion until we have enough simulation results.

3 Summary The simulation shows that two MCS tables have almost same performance. However, Fujitsu’s proposal has a little gain over contribution C802.16m-09_0510’s proposal. At least right now, we can not say which MCS table is good through limited simulation evaluation. We propose not to conclude MCS table before we have more time of simulation, for example, with CL-MIMO case, and different simulation scenario.

4 Some explanation With CRU-based AMC, ideal channel estimation, and HARQ, two MCS table have similar performance, since HARQ retransmission might mask the initial MCS selection mismatch. In the other hand, PF scheduler might also hide the link variance by utilizing multi-user selection gain. In order to get insight how MCS table influence system throughput, we need more simulation.
