 I can use the first three or four letters of a word to check its spelling in a dictionary.  I can plan my writing by noting and developing ideas, drawing on reading and research where necessary.  I can plan my writing by identifying the audience and the purpose of the writing, and I can select the right model to use.  I can use connectives to build cohesion within a paragraph [e.g. then, after that, this, firstly]  I can write with increasingly legibly, fluently and with increasing speed.

 Spellings to be given out on a Monday. Children are to write these out everyday and on the following Monday they need to be tested. New spellings will then be given out  The children are expected to read or be read to every day for 20 minutes. They then need to write a blurb in their homework diaries.  Weekly comprehension or maths activity  Topic based projects or tasks may also be set
