Introduction Audience: Any individual who has a bank account. Purpose: To inform the audience of a correct way to write a check. – In an era of ATM check cards, online bill paying and credit cards, the art of writing a check may be lost. – Bad checks often get bounced.

Instructions You will need: – A Check-book – A Pen – Bank account information – Calculator

Instructions Step 1: – Examine your bank account Make sure you have enough money. Bounced checks often result in a fee. Step 2: – Write the Check

Step 2: Write the Check 1. Record the Date: Write the Date here

Step 2: Write the Check 2. Write the name of the Payee: Record the Payee here

Step 2: Write the Check 3. Record the amount you wish to pay in digits: Write the Amount in Digits here

Instructions Step 3: – Record the Check You should keep a record of all checks that you write so that you can check your records against the bank's records when you get your monthly statement. Step 4: – Calculate your new Balance Use a calculator to determine how much money you have left in your bank account

Tips and Warnings Write as few checks as possible. Consult your account balance before writing a check. Always use a pen. Write in print rather than script. Don't write entire account numbers in the memo field. Keep a record of every check you write.
