WHAT IS YORK PUSH? An application that constantly informs students when their professor has updated their course web page

WHY YORK PUSH? In a world where smartphones rule there is currently there is no effective way to contact students outside of school. York Push aims towards getting information out to students by push notifications on their smart phone. (Hence the push )

HOW DOES IT WORK? There are two main parts to York Push 1)The student application 2)The professors application

STUDENT APPLICATION Students will first have to sign in via Passport York. Once authenticated the program will then access the students courses + sections and “sign up” for push notifications from them. The program will proceed to run in the background waiting for the next time to check if there has been an update and if there is send them a push notification.

PROFESSOR APPLICATION Smartphone/Desktop application Will behave the same way as Student application for logging in and enrolling professors into the courses they are teaching for the term. To send students the message the professor will have to click/press on a button

POSSIBLE ADDITIONS TO YORK PUSH Can be an extension of Moodle Can act as a chat room between students in the same class Checking Prof Office Hours Can expand to include study groups And much more….
