The Greek Theatre By Mikhail, Judson, Sam, And Doug

Importance of the Theater  The theater is important because the plays taught the citizens about Greek myth and Greek history.  It also supplied much of the entertainment to the citizens of the time.

The Seating Of The Theater ♫ ♫Stone seating was in the 4 th century. ♫ ♫In the 5 th century B.C. the spectators sat on cushions or boards and their seats were wrapped around the orchestra.

Theater in Athens  The Athens theater shows architectural creativity and design.  Many Greek plays were performed here.  The most important image of the theater are the seats, because without the people coming to watch the plays there'd be no ancient Greek theater.

The Setup of the Theater  Theatron- the seating  Parodos- alleyway where the chorus and the actors enter for a play.  Orchestra- floor of the arena where dancing takes place.  Skene- rectangular building provides generic backdrop for the action of the play.

Conclusion Physical theater is important to Oedipus Rex because the theater helps to get the word out about the myth. It also adds drama and a picture to the myth. Archaeologists need to know this to be able to relate the theater to Oedipus Rex.
