12 May 2011 CIM Users Group 2011 Goals Spring Meeting, Prague 12 May 2011

Goals Marketing and Communications Making use of CIM related Standards Education Member Services Website Working Groups Definition

Marketing and Communication Market the CIM Users Group Communication  Better internal communications within the UCA International User Group community  Better external communications with the Industry at large. Setup Utility focus group meetings  Purpose to have utilities collaborate on use of CIM Standards. Europe Americas Asia Joint meeting

Making use of CIM related Standards Need to create views into the CIM UML model for different subject areas to help potential users evaluate the CIM models for applicability to their projects/products without having to understand and navigate the CIM UML model. Suggested topics include:  Assets, Work, Outage, Consumption, Customer, Location, Project, Organization, Resource, Material, Finance, Regulatory, Network models Better clarity on current CIM releases, since we have 3 working groups (i.e., 61968, 61970, and 62325) contributing to the single combined model. Organize CIM draft standards  By subject matter  Status Need Use Cases for CIM TC57

Education Develop methodology to educate key stakeholders and governmental decision-makers related to the CIM standards for the Smart Grid.  Common misunderstandings and usage questions: Not one standard but a series of standards addressing different layers in the Grid Wise Architecture Council (GWAC) stack and at different levels of maturity. Cannot say, for instance, “the CIM standard is not mature enough to use yet since it is still changing.” European Architecture Council... Testing. Statements that the CIM standards have not undergone any interoperability testing yet. How the CIM standards are used How many utilities have projects using the CIM standards and how many vendors have implemented CIM-based products The role of the CIM standards in achieving the interoperability goals of the Smart Grid vision. CIM User Group Members Industry at large

Members Services Website Better organization  About CIMug  Menu for New CIM users  CIM Starter Kit  Org Structure Page  Menu for Regulators and Governmental Officials Education sub-site for new and existing members  Tutorial material on CIM standards  Project stories  SG-related presentations, especially how the CIM standards play in the SG vision  Updated FAQ’s Better collection of links to other sites where CIM standards are being used or information is available on the standards Searching – Is it working the way we expect it to?
