 26 course offerings within the Communications, Construction, Manufacturing, Transportation, and Engineering clusters; including PLTW  Project Lead the Way Program ◦ 5 sequenced courses which students take freshman through senior year  Project-based learning throughout all courses; students plan, build, test products

 New initiative in district between the Southington Education Foundation (private fundraising source) and the Southington Public School district to create its own STEM online training resource for teachers  Professional Development site where teachers from every discipline can go to obtain resources relating to STEM  Goal is to have teachers create, share, and collaborate online in regards to STEM activities  Teachers throughout district will better understand how the components of STEM interrelate

 Partnerships with local industries to continually educate SHS staff on the opportunities in STEM career fields ◦ SHS staff includes: TEE teachers, school counselors, math department, administration  Guide our curriculum writing so we know what skill sets students need  Internships and job shadowing opportunities still a large component of the Advisory Board mission  Creating pathways for students to get into careers high after high school  Various annual field trips to manufacturing industries and career speakers

 Architecture, Construction, and Engineering initiative to further introduce students to opportunities within these career fields  Meetings occur after school like a club  SHS working with ACE Mentor Program and local commercial construction company Newfield Construction  First project will focus on the middle school renovations occurring in town ◦ Students develop a solution to a real problem the company had

 Woman in Science and Engineering (WISE) club advised by female school counselor  Mission of WISE is to help young women determine that engineering and science is a highly desirable career option viable for them  Exposure to STEM through various guest speakers and projects  Girls in the TEE labs generating products
