Presentation transcript:

Ursula Bassler1online monitoring 7/2/2002 Calorimeter Data Quality  aim: enhance the information flow concerning the data quality between the detector- and id/physics- groups  means:  evaluation of data quality:  calibration monitoring  online-examines  offline data quality check histograms  communication:  calorimeter runs database

Ursula Bassler2online monitoring 7/2/2002 Calorimeter Runs Database  design/implementation by Mike Tuts

Ursula Bassler3online monitoring 7/2/2002 Calorimeter Runs Database  Development of a database containing the status and the data quality of the calorimeter  filled by calorimeter shifters, overseen by experts  design still under development, therefore Access database, can be translated into Oracle

Ursula Bassler4online monitoring 7/2/2002 Quality Evaluation Criteria  Overall Data Quality:  good/bad/ugly  Pedestal Date:  refers to the last pedestal run taken  Online checked:  if Examines have been looked at  different check boxes for the distributions to be verified: good/bad  L1cal Examines to be added  Offline checked:  to be filled in when offline plots are available and have been looked at by the shifter  different check boxes for the distributions to be verified:good/bad  Missing crates:  to be filled if due to a hardware problem parts of the detector had to be suppressed or taken out of a run  Comments:  whatever observation was made for the run

Ursula Bassler5online monitoring 7/2/2002 Why a database?  requiring information about specific distributions by shifters obliges them to look at the plots  includes physics runs and special calorimeter runs, which can be searched for by criteria  logbooks are useful for the detector groups, but concise information for each run is easier to digest and more useful for offline-use  after stable design and operation, data can be put in Oracle and linked to Run-Database  but: every database is as useful as the information it contains! Shifters Education and supervision by experts necessary!!!

Ursula Bassler6online monitoring 7/2/2002 Online/Offline checks  Online verification by Examines  Florencia  Offline verification:  why? complaints by physics groups generally after a couple of weeks – turn over time to long for taking action or even tracing back problems seen offline  increase motivation of shifters to think about the data they are taking as input to the physics they will be doing  gain of experience for development of express-streaming  how? set of distributions being produced as farm reconstruction output and verified as soon as available by the shifter  basis: em-id (Volker) pointed to the top-group run quality checks developed by Arnulf Quadt  distributions to be added from jet/met (Vishnu/Gregorio)  contributions from other groups? Marco Verzocchi

Ursula Bassler7online monitoring 7/2/2002 Wishlist  online Examines:  distributions for different triggers  comparison with ref. plots (  2 computation?)  further development of xgooey: f.ex. coordinates of a point when you put the mouse there  express stream:  sure!  run-number in event-display  Database:  further development of quality evaluation  shifters education
