Gross Anatomy

Gross Anatomy Head Muscles Facial Muscles: Frontalis – allows you to raise eyebrows and wrinkle forehead Orbicularis Oculi – circles around eyes Orbicularis Oris – kissing muscles Zygomaticus – smiling Chewing Muscles: Masseter: closes jaw by elevating mandible Temporalis – acts as a synergist of the masseter closing the jaw

Gross Anatomy Trunk and Neck Muscles Anterior Muscles Platysma: pulls corner of mouth inferiorly Sternocleidomastoid: flexes neck, rotated head Pectoralis major: adducts and flexes humerus Intercostal muscle: deep muscles found between the ribs Rectus Abdominis: flexes vertebral column External Oblique: flexes and rotates vertebral column

Gross Anatomy Trunk and Neck Muscles Posterior Muscles Trapezius: extends neck and adducts scapula Latissimus dorsi: extends and adducts humerus Deltoid: abducts humerus

Gross Anatomy Muscles of the Upper Limb Muscles that Move the Upper Limb Pectoralis Major: adducts and flexes humerus Lattisiumus Dorsi: extends and adducts humerus Deltoid: abducts humerus Muscles that Act on the Forearm Biceps Brachii: flexes elbow and supinates forearm Triceps Brachii: extends elbow
