Common Wool Producers Sheep Llama

Not All Wool is Equal The smaller the micron size per fiber, the finer or softer the wool is.

Shearing First the sheep needs to be sheared. This does not hurt the sheep. Electric or manual shears can be used.

Washing The Wool Wool must be washed because of: Lanolin Vegetable Matter (Hay, etc.) Dirt Only Sheep’s wool has lanolin

Wool Processing Wool needs to be carded to align the fibers for better spinning and a smooth yarn. Several methods are available:
