“What are you doing?” “Cooking Breakfast. I like scrambled eggs.” “But…When did you learn to cook?” “On the last campout.”

How many of your son’s non-scout friends cook their own breakfast?

“Clean your room!” How many of your son’s non-scout friends…. Cleaned their room or washed their clothes or washed their own dishes Without being asked…

Your sons are scouts. They are more likely than their non- scout friends to… Graduate from college (35% vs. 18%) Earn higher incomes ($80,000 vs. $61,000) Place a high value on family relationships (81% vs. 74%)

TV host…Opera Singer…Eagle Scout

The Eagle Award is not really meant for people who need to be dragged across the finish line. Being an Eagle Scout requires you to be different than most everyone around you, and being different is really, really hard. That’s why the award is called “an accomplishment.” Personally, and for whatever it’s worth, the best decisions I've made in my own life, are those decisions that put me on the outside of being cool. Singing in the Opera, working in home shopping, staring in the school play when the entire football team laughed at me, and especially earning my Eagle, were all choices that required sacrifice, hard work, and delayed gratification. Anyway, I have no idea if you would prefer an easy life of predictability and mediocrity, or if you have the passion to follow the road less traveled. Only you get to decide that.

An opportunity to be Extraordinary You can work hard at school – but not become Einstein You can practice your sport – but not become Derek Jeter You can learn your instrument – but not become Beethoven

With Scouts Every Boy Will Become more self sufficient Become a man for others Obtain skills that last for life Capture a character to be proud of Accomplish something Extra Ordinary

But Our Scout Council needs YOUR help. Running programs takes money The CT Yankee Council responsibly raises and spends over four million dollars per year 85% of it directly in service to individual units Like This One.

This year you will spend $ on 6 months of Cablevision – 3 if you add internet 5 extra large Dunkin’ Donuts coffees each month – Less if it’s Starbucks 6 months of an iphone data plan – The cheap one. Changing a boy’s life for the better - Forever.

Scouts Gives everyone the opportunity to decide To be Extraordinary To Learn what it means to work for something To Achieve
