Resonance is a GENERAL phenomenon
Solid Objects All have their own modes of vibration. Each has its own resonant frequency. Musical Examples Cymbals – (very melodic!) Drum Bell Guitar &similar stringed instruments.

Meet Ough
Where are we going? Vibration plate sand At RESONANCE, this thing makes a lot of noise. Else, not.

Back to the old guitar …
Little String … BIG force
BIG Vibrations
Response vs Frequency Frequency Area of plate moving
What’s Happening?? It’s all about energy. String vibrates Gradually loses energy The plates begin to vibrate and produce a strong sound which is what we hear. The plates are vibrating in many modes at the same time. As the string loses energy, it stops supplying energy to the plates. The sound from the plates decrease with time as they run out of energy. Each mode has a different rate of energy loss.
Performer has some control.
