Presentation transcript:

Begin a new story or edit a Photo Story project that has already been created. Make your selection and click next. 1

Click on import pictures. Browse to where you pictures are saved and select the pictures you want to add to your story board. 2

Pictures will appear at the bottom on a story board. They can be rearranged on this board by clicking and dragging. Once pictures are imported you can also edit pictures and remove black borders. 3

Text can be added to the pictures on this screen. Click on the “A” tool and it will give you options such as color and style. 4

An effect can be added to the pictures you have imported. Choose the picture in the story board you want to alter and click on effect and make your selection. 5

Narration is added on this step of the Photo Story process. Click on the “record” button to add narration. To delete the narration use the backwards arrow. Once you have recorded you can preview your slide with the narration added. 6

After you add your narration you can change the motion of your picture and how long it will appear on the screen. You can specify a place for the picture to start and finish along with selecting the amount of time you would like for it to appear. 7

Clicking on the “transition” tab will allow you to create a transition between pictures and allow you to select the amount of time the transition will take. Click a transition to try and watch the preview in the top of the window. Once you have made your selection click save at the bottom and then close to return to another picture. 8

Background music can be added in this step of the Photo Story process. “Select music” will allow you to add a MP3 file, “create music” will allow you to add music from the Photo Story library. The volume control is adjusted on this screen. It is important to have low volume on narrated slides so that the student’s voices can be heard. There is a preview button that will allow you to view the slides with the music added. 9

On this screen you can save your Photo Story project. Click on “save project” and select a destination for the file. This will save your project in the Photo Story program so that you can open it up in Photo Story and make additions or changes. **This save is not for viewing but for saving so that you can go back into the file and make changes.** 10

When your project is complete and ALL changes have been made you are ready to save. You want to choose the “save your story for playback on your computer”. This will save your file so that it can be played back in Windows Media or Real Player. Browse to where you want your file saved and click next. Your Photo Story project will build and be ready to be viewed on your computer. 11

It is important to use a planning page with students so that when they begin using Photo Story on the computer they are ready to work. MS PowerPoint can be used with older students to create slides. Students can create a slideshow in PowerPoint and then save the slide show as.jpeg files and import the slides into the program. Good microphones are important. Save your Photo Story often as you are working on your project. If you choose to use music in a narrated project make sure you adjust the volume so that student’s voices can be heard. Slides can be created from digital pictures, scanned images, MS Paint, PowerPoint slides saved as.jpeg images. Things to remember and know: 12

Sample Planning Page *have students describe their picture if they are going to take a digital picture, draw a picture or sketch their MS Paint image above *students can write out what text they want on their slides or write out their narration 13
