The move was through 1790 and The dotted route is the land route, blue is water route, green other major routes.
The Trail of Tears was started when settlers moved west. They Originally lived in their ancestral land, The Smokey Mountains. They lived there peacefully until President Jackson signed a Indian Removal Act. John Ross, or white bird was the chief at that time. They moved even faster because of the California Gold Rush. 4,000 People Died during this move.
Chief White bird lead the tribe through the trail. But They had to agree to a reviewed treaty. In 1826 the tribe held a convention and drafted a tribal Constitution. In the end, the army forced them to the trail. The walk was 800 miles. Many Died From Frost Bite and Smallpox.
It ended with the people realizing they were wrong. They did not allow The Native Americans to move Back, although they did eventually.
