Community Service Learning  Community Service Learning (CSL)  2 Hours Minimum  Must benefit someone other than yourself, family, friends.  Requires relationship to Children and/or families  Hours cannot include drive time or paperwork Being an active FCCLA member, and participation in service activities waves project requirement

Community Service Learning (CSL) 1. Identify ConcernIdentify Concern 2. Set GoalSet Goal 3. Form PlanForm Plan 4. ActAct 5. Follow-upFollow-up

Identify Concern  What problems or issues do you feel need your attention?  How can you help with these problems?  Will this benefit someone other than yourself, family, friends? To do:  Brainstorm at least 5 ideas  List advantages and disadvantages for your top 3 ideas

Set Goal  Goal is SMART  Specific  Measurable  Attainable  Realistic  Time Bound  2 Hours min. to complete  No paperwork or driving time count

Form A Plan  Who is involved- List all necessary people whether job is large or small  What- What is each person going to do? What will your tasks be?  When- specific date, time  Where- exact location  How will you accomplish your goal?  What resources will you need to complete your goal?  What problems could you encounter and how will you overcome the barriers?

ACT  Actual Proof of project completion (pictures, supervisor signature, thank you card, cert, etc.)  Must include a learning log  Entry for each 30 min time period  Step by step of what you did  Attitude (what you see, feel, hear)  Skills (what skills you transfer from class  Knowledge (what new information are you learning)  Must include parent signature

Follow-up  One to Two page paper 12 font, double spaced, essay format  Analyzes project successes and problems  Gives suggestions for improvement  Discusses additional projects which could be completed  Discusses how this project relates to class and what skills were learned

Format  Typed  Notebook or folder  Less than 3 spelling errors  Due: January 10th
