How do I differentiate between action verbs and linking verbs?

Whip – Around List as many ACTION verbs as you can on your paper! Use your creative writing skills! Think of some good ones! I will give you 45 seconds!

What is a verb? Every predicate has a verb that tells what the subject is or does. Every sentence must have a verb. The verb expresses action or being. The verb may have more than 1 word.

Examples of Verbs Michelangelo was an Italian sculptor in the 1500s. He carved many marble statues. We have seen pictures of his work.

Action Verbs An action verb is a word that tells what the subject of a sentence does, did, or will do. It can express physical actions, (run, jump, play) OR they can express mental actions (see, hear, think)
