Reporting Template By Team Awesome 3/13/14

Agenda Executive Summary Key Performance Indicators Insights Implications/Actions Overall Performance Observations Implications Specific Tactics

Executive Summary This is the elevator pitch for the rest of your presentation Try to keep it to a format that can be read in 1-2 minutes Assume that this presentation will be passed along to others and this is the only slide they will read Don’t worry about chronology, this should be the LAST slide you create

Key Performance Indicators Transition Slide Key Performance Indicators

Key Performance Indicators KPI and Insight Implication / Actions We grew our business by $120k (5%) last month due to our awesome widgets contest Contests work for our business but we can only reasonable do them once a quarter Develop a contest calendar for future months When I make text bold, you pay attention to the bold part Selectively use bold font in all future slides to draw attention to key points KPI slides can be as long as you need them to be. There is no set number of observations you need to include Develop somewhere in between 3 and 10 KPIs that you can draw upon in your report

Transition Slide to let Information Soak in Overall Performance

Overall Performance Target % Actual (March 14) Variation (%) Good 85,000 85% 80,000 80% -5,000 - 6% Bad 13,000 13% 18,000 18% +5,000 +38% Unsure 2,000 2% 0% Observations 80% of our performance was good, but still did not meet our target. I know this because it’s in red and red is bad! Our bad performance is much higher than we expected Implications We won’t hit our goals of 85% if this bad performance trend continues If we don’t get back up to our goal, we get no bonuses

Overall Performance Observations 80% of Our Performance is Good! 18% of our performance is really bad Implications We need to get our good performance back up to our goal of 85% If we don’t get back up to our goal, we get no bonuses

Where we summarize all of the numbers and charts that make up the executive summary, KPIs and Overall performance Supporting Evidence

Supporting Evidence This is where you get to give some more depth to the sections you covered previously. If you have followed the format to this point, you will only need to view these pages if specific questions arise. Chances are that you might not even get this far in your “live” presentation. Observations Our supporting evidence is substantial We used bullet points to give evidence here, but maybe a chart would be better? Implications Let’s try to use a chart next time to see if that works better

Supporting Evidence There are many ways to provide supporting evidence, so it’s up to you to provide this information. Just remember to add observations and implications to each slide for those who are not able to catch your presentation in person Observations Our supporting evidence is substantial We used bullet points to give evidence here, but maybe a chart would be better? Implications Let’s try to use a chart next time to see if that works better

This is where the data geeks find the fun stuff Appendix

Appendix: Awesome Data This is where you put all of the stuff that you think is super important, but may be too much detail for your audience. All of your hard work is relegated to the back pages of the presentation. It stinks, doesn’t it? But remember the fun you had in digging deep into the data, for this is what made the rest of the presentation great!
