 1. A) Today you are reading the first short story dealing with Money, Power, & Greed.  B) Tomorrow you will be taking a quiz over the short story Button, Button. You will need to know the characters & events of this tale.

2. As you read, you will need to do the following things. a) Put you name on your copy of the story (you will be turning it in tomorrow). b) As you read, you will need to underline any important events that take place in the story. c) You will need to identify ALL characters in the story by placing a box around their names. d) You will need to identify any unknown vocabulary words by placing a circle around the word.

 3. After you have read the story. Take out a sheet of paper and answer the following questions in complete sentences (1 paragraph minimum each) and turn it in to the wire basket.  A) This story is about Money Power & Greed, but it is also about temptation. Do you think you would be tempted to push the button under the same conditions as Mrs. Lewis? Why or why not?  B) This story can also be about “free will” and “choice”. In your opinion, what is the POWER of free will and choice?  C) What do you think Mr. Steward’s role is in the story? How do you think the button works (speculate)?  Bonus D) What is ironic about the ending of the story?
