Monday, Oct. 5  Make sure your laptop is on and signed in.  In the URL box, type “myvolusiaschools.org ”  Click on the box that says “vPortal”  Log in using the following credentials: ID: Password: MMDDYYYY (your birthday!)  If you are having difficulty, raise your hand!

Adding a Tile  We will be adding the Class Website as a tile to your screen. Follow the directions below to add the tile: First, right click on the main screen and select “add tile” Type in the URL in the correct spot: “cmgoodin.weebly.com” Type in the website name “Ms. Goodin’s English II Site” Hit enter. You are done!

Gradebook  Click the Gradebook tile  It should automatically open your gradebook.  Check your grades now!

Collections Textbook (ebook)  To access your class textbook, scroll over until you see the “HMH Collections” tile  Once you click this, it may ask you to verify your password. (reenter your birthday!)  Type in your Collections Login (I will provide it!)  Now you should see your Dashboard  Locate your textbook

Textbook  Use the Table of Contents to locate the poem, “Carry” Read the poem OR plug in your headphones and listen to the audio recording of the poem  Use the Table of Contents to locate the poem, “When I Heard the Learn’d Astronomer” Read the poem OR plug in your headphones and listen to the audio recording of the poem  When you are finished, close the programs and return your laptop to the cart!

Tuesday, October 6: “Carry Imagery”  Reread the poem, “Carry” on p. 79  IN p. 29  Convey, in your own way, the image you see when you read “Carry”. This can be a written description of the image, or it can be a drawn picture. Be detailed Be specific Be neat

Wednesday, October 7: “Carry” Analyze the Text  TB p. 82  IN p. 30  Answer questions 1, 2, 4, 6  Write your answers in full sentences, using evidence from the text for support.

Thursday, October 8: “Carry” Literary Terms  IN p. 31  In your notebook, answer the following questions in complete sentences: 1. What is the theme of the poem? 2. What is the tone of the speaker? 3. What is the mood of the poem? 4.What sensory details do you see in the poem? Name at least two distinct details. 5.Provide and objective summary of the poem.

Friday, October 9: Notebook checks!  Turn in your homework and Week 7 IN check!  Be sure that pages are complete!  Ensure you are satisfied with your grade.  Make sure you are not missing any work!  Reread “When I Heard the Learn’d Astronomer” on p. 59
