Getting the most out of sharing books with your children.

Why read? For enjoyment For enjoyment To gain knowledge To gain knowledge To escape To escape To relax To relax

When to share books?  At a time suitable to your particular child At a time free from distractions! At a time free from distractions!

Where to share books?  Somewhere quiet, free from interruptions, well lit, cosy, where your child can feel special and the centre of attention.

How often and for how long? On average aim for  Reception - 10 minutes most days.  Yr 1/2 - 10/15 minutes most days  Yr 3/ minutes at least 4 days a week  Yr 5/6 – 15 minutes at least 3 days a week
