Children’s books are the building blocks of development in children

 How the book’s words will relate to the children’s lives, culture and world.  1. what is an example of a book from your childhood?  2. What favorite book do you remember?

 Getting the children involved with the book  Examples: pop-ups, movement, touch, sounds.  What is an example of interactivity?

 This is how the book can be interactive to the child’s senses of touch.  Example: Pat the Bunny

 How the book is designed to maximize the small motor skills of the children.  Example- hard cover or hard page books

 1. R-Repetition ◦ Reading it over and over again  2. R-Rhythm ◦ How the book moves through the words  3. R Readability ◦ How the children react to the book  4. Rhyme ◦ Words that sound the same, but mean different things.

 The quality, expression and aesthic picture the author is trying to convey be perceived differently from one child to another.
