The Metropolitan Museum of Art located in New York City. It is the largest art museum in the United States and one of the ten largest in the world. Its permanent collection contains more than two million works, divided among seventeen curatorial departments. ABOUT

The Met's Asian department has a collection of Asian art, holding over 35,000 piece. Many argue that this is the most comprehensive in the US. The collection dates back almost to the founding of the museum: many of the philanthropists who gave their art to the museum included Asian art in their collections. Today, an entire wing of the museum is dedicated to the Asian collection, it dates back to 4,000 years of Asian art. Every Asian civilization is represented in the Met's Asian department, and the pieces on display include every type of decorative art, from painting and printmaking to sculpture and metalworking.  This is the Great Wave of Kanagawa, drawn by Hokusai. The museum is a home of famous renowned paintings, but it houses much more, including such items as porcelain, musical instruments, historical artifacts, costumes and even armaments.  The photo on the left was a Drop-Front Secretary owned by Marie Antoinette.  The one on the right is the first ever found example of a full suit of armor from Henry VIII’s royal workshop. After visiting their website, it made me want to one day go there and experience all the nice artworks there. There are many different types of art here and they all come from different places, not only would this place be a fun experience, but you would also learn a lot while being there. I hope that one day I will be able to go there and experience the various artworks first hand. REFLECTION
