I am Blessed Imagine you were born the most graceful, wise, hard-working, loving and lovable person in the world, with a happy childhood and close friends. What do you think your life will turn out to be like in years time?

L.O. To know the main events of Jesus’ life To reflect on what his life was like

Factfile Using books, find the answers to these questions, and compile a factfile about Jesus: – When was he born? Where was he born ? – Who were his parents ? – Where did he live when he was a child? – What job did he grow up to do ? – When was his baptism? – Did he have any followers? – What was his public mission ? (what did he do, to show God’s kingdom?) How long did it last? – When did he die ? How did he die? – What happened after his death ?

Timeline of Jesus’ Life Show what you have learnt about Jesus on a timeline. Try and fit in the words below. You can add some of your own. Remember, some of Jesus’ activities lasted a few years. There was also a long time when no-one really knows what he was doing. Show this on your timeline. Incarnation The “Hidden” Life Baptism Start Mission Call of Disciples Teaching, Miracles & Healing Last Supper Crucifixion Resurrection

What evidence is there? How do we know Jesus’ life is not a fairy story? – The Gospels and letters of St Paul were written very soon after Jesus died. They all give very similar accounts of Jesus life, and show that many people had experienced him and believed in him as the Son of God, for themselves. – Roman historians: just recording facts, not interested in advertising for Christianity (Tacitus, Josephus) – Jewish writings talk about Jesus’ execution. This proves he existed, as Jews would not want to advertise for him. – Burial caskets of people who died soon after Jesus have inscriptions with “Jesus, let him arise!”. They had heard about the resurrection and believed in it, very early on, before any stories could be made up.. Explain which 2 of these sources of evidence for Jesus you find most convincing, or explain if you don’t find any of them convincing.

Jesus’ life Jesus spent most of his life living quietly, no- one really knows how, or where. He only spent 3 years on his public mission of healing and teaching. He died a brutal death aged only 33. Do you think his life was happy ?
