Graduation Requirements BCCHS Counseling Center

Michigan Merit Curriculum Minimum requirements for a student to graduate from high school. The student must pass all classes in order to be eligible for a high school diploma Additionally, Battle Creek Central High School has requirements that each student must meet in order to receive a diploma.

Credits Earning a credit indicates that a student has fulfilled the requirements for a class and passed with at least a D-. Each semester class is worth 0.5 credits. A student needs a minimum of 28 credits to earn a diploma from BCCHS Students may earn credit for a class without taking it through “testing out” by passing the final exam with a 77% or higher.

Grade Point Avg. In addition to credits, a student will receive letter grades for each class. Each letter grade is assigned a point value. The grade point average represents the sum of these grade points divided by the number of classes the student has attempted. Letter GradePoint Value A4.0 A-3.7 B+3.3 B3.0 B-2.7 C+2.3 C2.0 C-1.7 D+1.3 D1.0 D-0.7 E0

Education Development Plans (EDP’s) Students have the opportunity to complete an education development plan every year. This plan allows a student to map out their 4 years at BCCHS as well as explore post- secondary school options such as colleges, universities, and careers in fields that interest them. They may access these EDP’s at any time by logging in to
