Evaluation Question 4: Who would be the audience for your media product? Alicia Badcock

Typical Thriller Target Audience The target audience for many psychological thrillers are 18+. This is because they include a lot of violence and psychological issues which can be disturbing for many younger viewers. There are usually warnings on the back of the DVD cover which states why it is rated how it is, e.g. contains extreme violence or sexual scenes. Our Target Audience The audience which we are aiming to attract with our film is 15+ males and females who enjoy psychological thrillers. Our film opening will have a rating of 15+ because our film contains aspects of violence, death and a main character with psychological problems, however it will not be and 18+ as the content is not overly explicit. As our film is a mainstream film, it will attract an audience from a wide age range of 15 years old to about 60 years old, and even though the narrative is slightly complex, it wont limit the potential target audience as it could easily be replicated, and is very similar to other thriller films our target audience would watch. They will enjoy other thriller films and may enjoy reading psychological books etc…

Target Audience For ‘Se7en’- Rating Crime/ Mystery Thriller Suitable only for adults No-one younger than 18 may see an ‘18’ film in a cinema. No-one younger than 18 may rent or buy an ‘18’ rated video -Where the material is in breach of the criminal law, or has been created through the commission of a criminal offence. Se7en: John Doe murders 7 individuals based on the seven deadly sins. -Where material or treatment appears to the BBFC to risk harm to individuals or, through their behaviour, to society – for example, any detailed portrayal of violent or dangerous acts, or of illegal drug use, which may cause harm to public health or morals. This may include portrayals of sexual or sexualised violence which might, for example, eroticise or endorse sexual assault. Se7en: although you don’t see the murders take place, you see the aftermath of the tortured bodies. Scene where a man is forced to rape a woman, with a knife blade. This would attract their audience in a similar way we did, as it has psychological aspects and it has violence and death, but more explicit, which gives it a rating of 18+

Target Audience Member Media/Internet Fashions/Accessories Everyday Life Interests/Hobbies

Target Audience Member This is Paul Davies. He is 21 years and 3 months old, and lives on the outskirts of Brighton. He dresses fairly casual, but has to look smart for his everyday job, working in central Brighton at a Barclays Bank. His favourite brands are ‘Rayban’, Hugo Boss fragrance and he also enjoys shopping in ‘Topman’ and ‘Urban Outfitters’ and he believes himself to be quite stylish. He enjoys thriller films like ‘One Hour Photo’ and ‘Se7en’ and often has his mates over to his flat to watch them with him, with a few beers and a takeaway. His favourite TV programme is ‘Family Guy’ as he watches it every night before he goes to bed. However his favourite channel is E4, as he enjoys programmes such as ‘Skins’ and ‘Misfits’, and he also loves to watch the odd episode of ‘Friends’ and ‘Two and a Half Men’ on ‘Comedy Central’. I think our film would appeal to this young man, as he enjoys watching other thriller films, and TV series that are more unusual than others (Skins, Misfits). So if our film were to appear in his local cinema, either The Odeon in the centre of Brighton, or Cineworld, down at the Brighton Marina, he would probably go and watch it, with some of his friends,
