SENTENCE RACE

STRATEGY APPLIED:WRITING PURPOSE: TO BRUSH UP AND SHARPEN THE VOCABULARY SKILL AMONG THE STUDENTS TO BOOST UP THE CONFIDENCE LEVEL AMONG THE STUDENTS TO ENHANCE STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN CLASS ACTIVITIES AND WORK IN GROUPS

MAIN IDEA MAKING THE LEARNING OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE INTO A GAME WILL NOT ONLY EDUCATE THE STUDENTS BUT ALSO A GOOD TIME AS THEY ARE LEARNING. IT IMPROVES THE SKILLS FOR COMMUNICATION AND SOCIALIZATION. BRING IN RELAXATION AND FUN FOR STUDENTS, AND AT THE SAME TIME HELP THEM LEARN AND KEEP NEW WORDS MORE EASILY. ENGAGE FRIENDLY COMPETITION AND THEY KEEP LEARNERS INTERESTED. CREATE MOTIVATION FOR LEARNERS OF ENGLISH TO GET INVOLVED AND PARTICIPATE ACTIVELY IN THE LEARNING ACTIVITIES.

WHAT DO I NEED? A4 FLASH CARDS MAGIC PENS

HOW DO I CONDUCT? 1) PREPARE A LIST OF REVIEW OF VOCABULARY WORDS 2) WRITE EACH WORDS ON TWO SMALL PIECE OF PAPER OR FLASH CARDS. IT SIMPLY MEANS THAT WRITING THE SAME WORDS TWICE IN TWO DIFFERENT PIECE OF PAPERS OR FLASH CARDS. 3) ORGANIZE THE PIECES OF PAPERS OR FLASH CARDS LIKE BUNDLES, MEANING THAT 2 SETS OF IDENTICAL WORDS. 4) DIVIDE THE CLASS PUPILS INTO TWO TEAMS. GET THEM TO COME UP WITH THEIR CREATIVE GROUP NAMES.

5) DISTRIBUTE EACH LIST OF WORDS TO BOTH TEAMS. EVERY STUDENTS FROM EACH TEAM SHOULD BE HAVING A WORD WITH THEM. 6) BOTH TEAMS WOULD HAVE THE SAME COLLECTIONS OF WORDS 7) CALL OUT A WORD IN FRONT OF THE CLASS, 2 STUDENTS SHOULD STAND UP 1 FROM EACH TEAM. 8) THEN, THE STUDENTS MUST RUN TOWARDS THE BLACKBOARD AND RACE TO FORM A SENTENCE FROM THE WORD THAT THEY HAVE. 9) THE WINNER WOULD BE BASE FROM THE FAST STUDENT WITH CORRECT, CLEAR AND ZERO GRAMMATICAL ERROR OF THE SENTENCE.

EXAMPLES AND STEPS WORD : EXCITED SENTENCE 1: ALMEERA IS SO EXCITED BECAUSE SHE HAS BEEN CHOSEN AS ONE OF THE BEST SPEAKER IN HER SCHOOL DEBATE TEAM SENTENCE 2: ALI IS EXCITED TO HIS FATHER BOUGHT HIM A NEW BICYCLE * BOTH SENTENCES USE THE WORD “EXCITED” CORRECTLY, BUT SENTENCE 2 IS GRAMMATICALLY WRONG BECAUSE OF THE WORD “TO” INSTEAD OF “BECAUSE OR AS”. THUS, THE STUDENT WHO WROTE SENTENCE 1 IS THE WINNER AS THERE SENTENCE IS CORRECT IS ALL ASPECTS.*

LET’S DO IT!!! HAPPYADVANTAGE BRIGHTCOMPULSORY ENERGETIC ENEMY BLAST PAIN ACTIVE PHOBIA

HOW DID I DO? STRATEGYHOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THIS STRATEGY? SENTENCE RACE VERY GOODQUITE GOODNOT VERY GOODTERRIBLE & HORRIBLE PV’s

HOW CAN I DO IT DIFFERENTLY? DO IT ONLINE BASIS : CONDUCT AN ONLINE LESSON WHERE YOU HAVE ALREADY DIVIDED THE STUDENTS INTO GROUPS. THE WORDS OF VOCABULARY WOULD BE GIVEN AS THE ONLINE LESSON BEGINS. STUDENTS WHO COME OUT WITH A CORRECT SENTENCE WITHOUT ANY MISTAKE, AND PRESSES THE “ENTER” BUTTON FAST, WOULD BE THE WINNER.

THANK YOU !!
