Garrett Morgan

Introduction Garrett Morgan invented many items that we use today such as the Gas Mask, Hair Cream and Dyes and the Traffic Signal

Background Garrett Morgan was born March 4, 1877 and only had an elementary education. He worked on a farm with his brothers and sisters. His first job was a sewing machine repairman.

The Problem…. One day there was a terrible accident between a horse carriage and motor vehicle at a intersection that made Garrett Morgan think that there needed to be a way to direct traffic……

Garrett’s Invention Garrett Morgan’s traffic light was a “T” shaped pole that had three positions: Go, Stop and Stop at all directions to allow for pedestrians to cross the street

A Good Invention….. The traffic signal makes life better for everyone because we can drive safely and cross the street without worry.

In closing…. I learned that Garrett Morgan invented more than just the traffic signal.
