Back up that disk with Clonezilla! Uses Partimage, ntfsclone and dd to clone partitions or whole disks. Can save as gzip, bzip2, Lzo, or uncompressed image. Supports ext2, ext3, reiserfs, xfs, jfs, FAT and NTFS filesystems. Can save to local or network drive. Use easy to follow screens with directions Get It at:
Part 1: Backup A Partition
Select Language
Explaining keymap choices
Select Keymap
Start Clonezilla
Select disk/partition to image
Type of drive to save image (local or remote drives etc.)
Clonezilla will give you time to plug in a USB drive
Select partition to hold image
Select save_client_partition
Select which utilities will be used to make backup (use the top one)
Use the default parameters unless you know better
Select the type of image compression
Name the backup image
Select the source partition
Answer a couple of “are you sures?” watch the image be copied. Shutdown the computer when done.
Part 2: Restore A Partition
Select Language
Explaining keymap choices
Select Keymap
Start Clonezilla
Select disk/partition to image
Type of drive to save image (local or remote drives etc.)
Select partition holding image
Select Restore_client_partition
Use the default parameters unless you know better
Choose the image file to restore
Select target partition
Answer a couple of “are you sures?” watch the image be restored. Shutdown the computer when done.
Part 3: Clone A Partition
Select Language
Explaining keymap choices
Select Keymap
Start Clonezilla
Select disk/partition to disk/partition
Select local partition to local partition clone (note the other choices)
Select source partition
Select target partition
Use the default parameters unless you know better
Watch as the partition is cloned. Shutdown computer when done.
