Mahler, Strauss, Hindemith

Three of the great German composers of the late Romantic Era/Early 20 th Century included Richard Strauss, Paul Hindemith and Gustav Mahler. Each of these men greatly influenced music. They also had interesting connections to Germany and German politics making their lives as interesting as their music. Introduction

1.First you will visit some websites searching for information about each composer. 2.You will fill out a “Meet the Composers” sheet for each composer. 3.Then you will pick one composer to research more in depth. Answer the following questions: 1.What did this person die? 2.What was something interesting about their life? 3.What kind of music was this person most known for? 4.Did people like his music? 5.Did he move to another country? If so, why? 4. Find a sound clip of a piece of their music that you think is interesting. 5. Find a picture of the composer. 6. Create a vokie for the composer and try to make it look like the composer. You should have the composer talk about their life and their music. 7. Present to the class your vokie for the composer and the sound clip that you’ve chosen. Task
