You will be tested on the following for language arts: DRP Reading Comprehension Direct Assessment of Writing Editing and Revising

DRP- Degrees of Reading Power  Multiple-choice  Seven (7) passages and forty-nine (49) test items  It is designed to measure a student’s ability to understand nonfiction passages on a graduated scale of reading difficulty.

Reading Comprehension  Narrative and informational passages  20 multiple-choice questions  10 open-ended questions that require students to write out a response  All questions are based on content strands: (1)Forming a General Understanding (2)Developing Interpretation (3)Making Reader/Text Connections (4)Examining the Content and Structure

Direct Assessment of Writing  Students respond to a prompt  Write a Persuasive Essay  45 minutes  The writing is judged as a first draft  The writing is scored holistically on a 6- point scale.  Each paper is scored twice resulting in a score range of 2 to 12 points.

Editing and Revising  Multiple-choice  Students are given a series of brief scenarios and rough drafts followed by sets of questions.  Student scores are reported for two content strands: (1) Composing/Revising and (2) Editing, as well as a total raw score.
