Key messages Military mentoring is taking place in all regions of the country, and in rural and urban programs BBBS agencies are serving all branches of the military, including significant involvement with the National Guard and Reserves Most programs serving military children or involving military Bigs are small, serving fewer than 25 children and/or fewer than 25 Bigs Agencies are eager to expand their programs serving children of military families, but very few have received dedicated funding for military mentoring
The majority of agencies that responded to the survey are currently involved with military communities
BBBS agencies are engaging all branches of the military in current programs
However, most military mentoring programs are still relatively small and are currently under-resourced % of agencies with funding designated for military mentoring
And the network is eager to expand its service to greater numbers of military families 68 agencies currently serving children of military families also have military children on their waiting list
