How to Use the Netbooks

 The netbooks have Windows 7 and all AISD software loaded on them.

 The case is held shut by a magnet. To open your netbook, use one hand to hold the base of the laptop down while you gently pry the lid up with your other hand.  Turn on your netbook by pushing the power button above the keyboard on the right side.

 It is easiest to use your index finger to move the cursor and your thumb to click. Push this side to right-click Push this side to left-click The touchpad uses a rocker button to click, which means that you must push the left side of the button to left-click, and the right side of the button to right-click.

Log in to the computer using your student ID as your username – include the ‘s’ at the beginning. Your password is the first letter of your last name (capitalized), your birth date in six digits (MMDDYY), and a lowercase ‘s’. Never log in for any other student or let another student log in for you. If you are having difficulty logging in, ask your teacher for assistance.

 Follow your teacher’s instructions for assignments. Don’t get distracted!  You are responsible for your actions on the netbook. Do not use another student’s netbook or let another student use yours.  Do not touch the screen with your fingers or other objects.  Do not change any settings on the netbook.  Do not change the desktop background.

 You should save any work in progress to the H: drive. You will be able to access it later from any AISD computer.  You may also save files to a USB flash drive if you have one.  Do not save anything to the Desktop or Documents folder.

 Shut down the computer by going to the Start menu and clicking Shut down on the bottom right corner of the menu.  Do not close the laptop until the computer is completely shut down. The screen should be totally black.
