Referee Mentor Program

 The referee assigner assigns mentor positions, the same way as a referee is assigned, using (an Arbiter account is required to receive assignments)  Pay is $10 for U10 and $15 for U11+  If you wish to be a mentor, let your assigner know what your availability is.

 Arrive 15 minutes before match start  Introduce your self to the referee crew and coaches  Mention the following to the referee crew: ◦ your name ◦ how long you have been refereeing ◦ overview of the evaluation process  You are not an Assessor; you are a Mentor!

 What to bring: ◦ A watch ◦ A clipboard ◦ A copy of the evaluation form ◦ Writing instrument  Change vantage points during the game  Remain discrete

 Let the referee crew communicate first among themselves  Let them ask questions of you first, if they wish  Be brief with your comments (less than two minutes)  Provide one minor correction to each referee

 Spend minutes with referee crew after the game, and identify to them what you will be putting on the form  Be positive!  When identifying corrections, mention how they will benefit the referee  Avoid technical critiques that involve mechanics or references to literature, unless you are certain that your information is current

 Form is downloadable from  Criteria are subjective, using U,NI,A,E,O nomenclature.  Do not use ‘U’ (Unacceptable), unless the referee is grossly negligent  Use ‘NI’ in at least one category for youth referees  Forward completed evaluations to Referee Assigner within one week of
