What did we do? The causes of anti-Semitism Andrew Gazzillo Help Received: works cited

History of extreme anti-Semitism On average, between the years 250 and 1948 AD, Jews have been the victim of expulsion or persecution once every 21 years. HistoryJewishPersecution/

Why do haters hate? Historians generally agree on six explanations for why Jews are the subject to such persecution: Economic – Jews possess wealth and power (Holy Land) Chosen People – arrogant claims to be the “select” by God Scapegoat – When in doubt, blame the Jews (Hitler) Deicide -- "We hate Jews because they killed Jesus.“ (Christians/ Papal States) Outsiders, -- Jews are foreign to the natural area (Palestine) Racial Theory – Jews are an inferior race (Hitler)

Counter arguments Jews themselves like all religions/races are not the sole source of wealth, and by no means were all Jews in history wealthy. Jews only make up.2% of the world population While Jews do consider themselves “chosen” they are extremely tolerant of other religions who believe the same Conflict involving Jews on the offensive has rarely occurred throughout history Jews are outsiders everywhere because they have been expelled from any home they attempted to permanently settle Religion is not a race

Conclusion Ever since people began to distinguish their beliefs there has been religious conflict. The tragic reality is Jews tend to be the little, weakling in a playground of big kids. They have however, gained a significant strong hold in Israel with the conclusion of WWII and finally with the backing of many countries that have learned the same type of toleration Judaism has been preaching for centuries.
