Was the Israeli mayor of Ashkelon being racist?

Background Ashkelon’s mayor is Itamar Shimoni. Ashkelon is a city of the coast of Israel. Ashkelon’s city workers consist of citizens with mixed races.

Accusations The mayor suspended 30 Israeli citizens of Arab decent from their jobs for the city for “security” reasons. Now the mayor is being accused of racism. Itamar Shimoni made this decision after several of attacks on Jerusalem. There has bean multiple killings of people inside synagogues. We will get more on the story as it develops.
