Mapping Longitude and Latitude Wednesday, September 16, 2015

Do Now Write the questions and answers Read page 26 in the Guidebook, answer the questions at the top preceding the reading. Bonus Questions What do closely spaced contour lines indicate? What do widely spaced contour lines indicate?

Homework Work on all assignments, you will have a new homework assignment tomorrow.

Longitude and Latitude Discuss the Do-Now Review Page 24-26, read around Balloon- Globe Activity daptiveactivities.PDF daptiveactivities.PDF

Review What tells us the shape of the land? What does the topography of an area include? What is elevation? How do you find the relief? What is the order of landform from lowest to highest elevation? What is the description of a plain? What is the description of a plateau? What is the description of a mountain?

Map is a flat model of all or part of the Earth’s surface. Scale relates distance on a map to the distance on Earth’s surface. (practice math skills) Degree is 1/360 of the distance around a circle.
